Do you like to go out drinking with your friends? Do you have a tendency to over-imbibe on occasion? If you have answered “yes” to these questions, hopefully you know about Alcovit, a cool new way to prevent hangovers the scientific way. Alcovit detoxifies your body and helps it get rid of the poisons that are responsible for hangovers. But, if you forget to take Alcovit before you head out to the bars, here are some great hangover cures that will help you get through the day after.
Hair of the Dog
This is probably one of the most common methods of curing a hangover. It requires you to have another drink to help stop the hangover symptoms. Although you will experience some temporary relief this way, it is not the best way to cure a hangover. In fact, it can hurt you in the long run. Your body needs the opportunity to recover, and putting booze into your body in the morning is not the way to do it.
Eat a Greasy Breakfast
Many people swear by this method of curing a hangover. However, there is not scientific proof that eating greasy foods has any effect on a hangover at all. Often, what happens it that you will get a nasty case of heartburn to go along with your hangover. Talk about adding insult to injury. You do want to get some calories into your system, but it is better to go with food that is easily digestible.
Water and/or Sports Drinks
It is a common belief that the main cause of hangovers is dehydration. So, common sense dictates that adding fluid back into your body is a smart idea. However, science has never proven that there is a connection between dehydration and hangovers. But, choosing to put non-alcoholic fluids back into your body will probably ease your symptoms, and it certainly will not hurt you. Water is your best option, but you can drink juice and sports drinks are also viable options.
Homemade Ginger Tea
Many of us reach for coffee to help cure a hangover. But, ginger tea is a much better option. The caffeine in coffee is a diuretic, so it can increase your symptoms. Ginger tea, on the other hand, has anti-nausea and anti-inflammatory properties. So, it acts as more of a curative than coffee does. To make ginger tea, you just need some hot water, grated fresh ginger, and perhaps some sweetener or lemon for extra flavor.
Eat a Banana
Eating a banana is one of the easiest hangover cures out there. It is no secret that bananas are full of potassium and other electrolytes. These nutrients leave your body quickly when you are drinking, which helps contribute to a hangover. So, eating a banana is a fast and healthy way to replenish them in your body.
These cures for hangovers all work in varying degrees. Keep in mind that hangover cures that work for your buddies might not work for you.
